OECD Recommendation defines an AI system for adherents

The revised Recommendation states a shared definition of an AI system used across many national frameworks.

AI system: An AI system is a machine-based system that, for explicit or implicit objectives, infers, from the input it receives, how to generate outputs such as predictions, content, recommendations, or decisions that can influence physical or virtual environments. Different AI systems vary in their levels of autonomy and adaptiveness after deployment.

OECD revises its AI Recommendation and shared system definition

On 3 May 2024 the OECD Council revised the Recommendation on Artificial Intelligence. The instrument remains soft law, but its AI-system definition is widely reused in domestic drafting.
